As the weather cools down, we find that a lot of our arthritic patients struggle and start to slow down too. There are many options available to assist arthritic pets and we are happy to discuss these with you on an individual basis. However one of the major ways to ease the burden on arthritic joints is to make sure your pet is not carrying too much extra body weight. This is something that everyone can do.

Recently we have treated a Great Dane and a Dogue de Bordeaux with uterine infections. They were quite different cases and show a different perspective of a pet owner's dilemma when dealing with severe illness and treatment requirements.

Heartworm is a potentially fatal parasite found in many parts of Australia. In recent years there have been reported cases in our local area so prevention is now more important than ever. Heartworm is carried by mosquitoes, so all dogs are potentially at risk. A dog who becomes infected with Heartworm can die from heart failure and organ failure.
